State-of-the-art in our backyard

Taranaki is incredibly lucky to have the Taranaki Cancer Centre | Te Hōpua Whakahauroa, an all-in-one facility providing local consultation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment for some of the region’s most common cancers.

The facility had over $50 million of Government investment, as well as an incredible $2.5 million from the community. But the journey is only just beginning. Every dollar we receive can be used to improve patient and carer wellbeing at what is an incredibly tough time.

Stay close to home
With radiotherapy now available locally, there will be no more nights away from whanau for the majority of cases. You will be home in your own bed with the people you love.
Bring a friend
The whole centre is designed to be inclusive for you, your whānau, and your friends. So while you are receiving your chemotherapy, your support network can be there for you at your hardest times.
Less disruption to life
Local cancer treatment means that you can fit your treatment in around your life, rather than changing your life to fit your treatment.
Faster access to care
With two onsite oncologists, and a third coming soon, you can be confident that from the moment of diagnosis, you will start your treatment as soon as possible.

Our region’s need

Taranaki has an aging population, and that brings with it some challenges to local healthcare. Like any other region, we having rising cancer rates, which are forecasted to continue rising for the next 10 years.

This is why this nex facility is so important. And it has be planned for growth, with the ability to add in more chemotherapy spaces in the future, and space allocated for a second radiotherapy bunker should it be needed.

Committing to a regular donation will help us prepare for this future growth. A regular monthly donation as small as $10 will have a huge impact for the local community in years to come.
